Bad day remedies.

Axiety attacks may occur at any time in any place. They’re anticipatory – meaning, you can often feel an attack coming before it completely hits, often you’ll feel a great deal of distress leading up to the attack before it peaks about 10 minutes in and slowly fades over the course of the next few hours.

Everyone has those really rotten days, some more often than others. Whether you are feeling depressed, anxious, sick, or completely stressed out. As for me, I’ve had a bad week. I’ve been upsetting about every single thing. I miss my friends, I miss people, I miss my family. I miss my best friend. I’m mad at people and I’m mad at me. I feel very ashamed of my panic attacks. And I have these really ugly ones where I feel like I have zero control of my body. My heart pounds really fast, I feel dizzy, and I can’t deal with the intense sense of nervousness. I come short of breath, start to shake, I have pain in my stomach, etc. It’s uglyyyy I tell ya.

Sometimes I don’t feel good about anything. No matter how much you realize that being positive and present will benefit you, it can be really arduous not to slip into a negative mindset.  I try not to isolote myself, though. I WANT to help me.

When it comes to coping with bad anxiety days, I try all sorts of different things to make myself feel better. Some battle plans had worked, others, not so much.

Be thankful.
I know it sounds vapid, BUT whenever I find myself upset or irritated, I think about the good stuff I have: my family, amazing people, my friends, my skills, my art, my art taste, anything. I’m not an instant fix, but I (let me quote Neck Deep) have been moving mountains that I once had to climb. Positive moments have happened to you and they’re likely to happen again. Focus on a good memory. My last birthday is one of my strongest memories. I think: I will have one better!

Relax and Unwind.
Don’t avoid negative feelings. Accept them. Things that get you down are completely out of your control and most of your worries are just foggy thoughts with no substance. Find a way to distract yourself in a positive way. Sometimes I don’t feel like drawing or sketching. I take a break from that too, you know. So I…

  • Put myself in hot water. Yup, I take a bath (with bubbles because I gotta smell nice). I feel more unfazed and relaxed after a few minutes.
  • Do my nails, hair, eyebrows. And I SHAVE. Trust me, if you are a gal, it’ll boost your mood.
  • Take care of other people. Try thinking about others. When was the last time you gave your  best friend a call? Do something nice for them. I’m currently sketching a thingie for my bestie and I also decorated my dad’s party (yup that’s a  Hot Wheels candle)
  • Set short term goals. Something you want to accomplish soon. Is there’s something you want to do in the near future? Go to a concert? Buy a new lap? The near future can mean tomorrow or next month. I want to buy myself a new Cintiq.
  • Read. It doesn’t have to be a book. I love sites that involve critical thinking and I often read interesting articles on TED, Quora or Wired. To me, it’s fun and interesting and it will help you think outside the box. Taking your mind off of what’s worrying you will help you reconnect.
  • Music! Put your favorite jams. Positive playlists can make a big difference. I adore epic music (Sawano Hiroyuki, Hans Zimmer), pop punk/alternative rock (All Time Low, State Champs, The Fray, Sleeping With Sirens, Tonight Alive, Issues) , Jpop (Perfume, or ANY anime intro), classical (Liszt,Tchaikovsky, Saint-Saëns), celtic music…whatever makes you feel good again.
  • Get comfy. I’m talking to you, baggy clothes.
  • Collect your favorite quotes. Some blog examples:
  • Watch cartoons, a movie, a talk show, read a manga, a magazine, a light novel, a fairytale, go for a walk or just sit outside, play your favorite videogame. This is how I relax:

    We Bare Bears.

    Play Sims 4!

Yona of The Dawn is one of my favorite stories right now.

  • Get active.
  • Cry.
  • Treat yourself. Have an ice cream or a healthy snack. Last week I went to Chick Fil A and the cashier was praising my first name, clothes and glasses. Out of the blue! I know…that’s her job but it made my day. Great costumer service will make you feel better because other people want you to feel okay. Also, my teacher made me chocolate cookies yesterday!

I also had cookies n cream ice cream in a cat mug because of reasons.

  • And sometimes I open Photoshop and I start to push colors.
  • Search cute pictures. I adore paintings and fantasy themes.
  • Tutorials for drawing, painting, playing the piano, dyeing your hair, anything. They’re helpful and you’ll be busy challenging yourself. My Tumblr’s full of them.

Everyone has bad days. Don’t lose your fight, kid.Trust me, you’ll be fine.
